Built New, Filling Up Fast
Potomac Yard is Alexandria's newest large-scale development — apartments, townhomes, and condos built to modern code with modern wiring. Rewiring is not on the menu here. Capacity planning is.
New buildings were wired for the day they opened. But residents keep adding: EV chargers, bigger home offices, outdoor kitchens, hot tubs. Each addition draws from the same panel, and the math gets tight.
What We Install
Dedicated EV charger circuits. Subpanels for townhomes whose mains are full. Outdoor and landscape lighting circuits. Whole-home surge protection. Smart-panel add-ons that let you see and manage your usage in real time.
For renters in the apartment buildings, the options are more limited — but if you own your unit or townhome, there is usually plenty we can do within HOA guidelines.
Outdoor Living Circuits
Potomac Yard living spills outdoors — rooftop terraces, balconies, and shared courtyards. We run dedicated outdoor circuits for lighting, heaters, and kitchens, all with proper weatherproofing and GFCI protection.
Outdoor electrical in a condo or townhome setting needs HOA sign-off, and the work has to be clean enough for shared spaces. We handle both: the paperwork and the craftsmanship. Done right, your terrace becomes a three-season room.
Inside, the most common Potomac Yard request after EV chargers is the home office circuit. New townhomes often put the office on a shared bedroom circuit — fine until the space heater joins the computer setup. A dedicated run is a quick fix we do all the time.
And if your building has a shared garage, talk to us before assuming a charger is impossible. Some Potomac Yard buildings have made it work with load-managed shared circuits — it depends on the building, but it is worth asking about.
